What are the different types of chevron kit?
There are four application types - standard, flooded separate, flooded applied and magnetic. The type of application you choose may depend on personal preference, but can also be specified by your customer's needs (where temporary chevron markings are required).

Standard Each reflective and fluorescent chevron is cut individually and they are applied 'butted up' to each other. We supply the chevrons taped together in easy to manage sections.

Flooded separate The yellow fluorescent is supplied in panel sections and the reflective red chevrons are supplied separately to apply over the top.

Flooded applied Panel sections of fluorescent yellow are supplied with the reflective red chevrons already applied onto them.

Magnetic Vehicle grade magnetic panel sections are supplied with the fluorescent yellow and reflective red chevrons ready applied.

What material do I need to order?
The reflective material you choose for your chevron kit should be dictated by the use of the vehicle. If the vehicle is going to be used on high-speed roads, an R3B compliant reflective material should be selected (3M Diamond Grade, Diffuse Reflective Red Prismatic R3B 500-01, Avery V-6722). These materials provide a higher level of reflectivity and visibility.
If the vehicle is going to be used on roads with lower speed limits (up to 40MPH), a reflective such as Oralite 5400 can be selected.

Can I apply a chevron kit myself?
Yes! Chevron kits are easily applied using some simple tools (if a self-adhesive option is chosen). Flooded separate and flooded applied options offer even easier application and some materials - such as Diffuse Fluorescent Yellow Swift Apply 550-01 - allow for bubble free application due to its swift apply adhesive.

Chevron kits should last for years on the vehicle, depending on usage and care. Expected durability is also dependent on the materials the kit is manufactured from.

Should I choose magnetic or self-adheive chevron kits?
For the vast majority of chevron kits, a self adhesive option will be used. Most vehicles need the safety markings as a 'permanent' fixture, providing the increased level of visibility that is needed for the vehicle to be safely used on highways.
When temporary safety markings are needed, magnetic chevron kits are the perfect option. Shared vehicles are a prime example - these vehicles are used by multiple people and for multiple uses, so where one driver may require safety markings to carry out their duties, another may not. A magentic kit can be quickly removed and stowed in the boot, then re-applied next time it's needed.
