Knifeless tape technology is designed to cut graphic film or other materials without a knife, eliminating the risk of nicks and cuts from a blade on the surface of the vehicle or substrate. 3M Knifeless Pro Tape (Perf Line) consists of a carrier tape for application and a visible, high strength filament (line) to cut film. The carrier tape and filament are flexible and turn smoothly along contours and edges of the surface it is applied to. Graphic film is placed over the tape and cutting is achieved by pulling the filament up through the film. A clean cut is made along the entire length of the applied tape. The carrier tape removes cleanly, leaving no adhesive residue.

Apply the knifeless tape to the surface where the vinyl or wrap will be added, in the pattern or shape you wish to remove from the surface vinyl/wrap. Then apply the wrap as normal over the top of the tape. Finally, firmly pull the knifeless tape up in a smooth motion to cut through the vinyl.
3M knifeless tape is designed to cut through one layer of vinyl, so it is not advised to multi-layer vinyl for use with knifeless tape.
The knifeless tape has been designed to peel away cleanly without damaging or leaving residue on the surface.
Knifeless tape can be cut with a snap off knife, scissors or even torn by hand.
